Titans To Let Finnegan Test Market

By: Justin Pawlowski

After all of the rumors regarding teams placing the franchise tag on players just to retain them, we finally have a team that is not willing to overpay to just keep their own free agents.

According to ESPN.com, the Titans might be willing to let one of their top defensive players walk instead of paying an inflated price.

Cornerback Cortland Finnegan — I don’t think the Titans want him at anything near what he’ll be able to command.

Finnegan will be one of the top corners in a deep corner class on the open market.

Although the Lions have been linked to Finnegan because of the connection with head coach Jim Schwartz, the Lions have serious salary cap issues to deal with.  Expect the Buccaneers, Rams, and Bengals to be the major players.

One Response to Titans To Let Finnegan Test Market

  1. I think this will be one players Tampa will go after hot and heavy. Tampa has many needs, and Cornerback is one of them.
Detroit needs secondary help too, and despite salary cap issues, look for them to make a major play on him.
I see Finnegan coming to Tampa, and we will pay dearly for it too, but so what ?
Tampa has the money, let’s spend it!
