Fister to the DL

By: Chris Dommermuth

Tigers SP Doug Fister left Saturday’s start against the Red Sox in the 4th inning with a left side injury. The Tigers announced after that same game that Fister would be placed on the DL.

The team will recall Brayan Villarreal from Triple-a Toledo.

Fister allowed three hits in 3 2/3 innings and struck out three, while walking one. The Tigers have yet to announce who will take Fister’s spot in the rotation, but my guess would be Duane Below, who replaced Fister when he left Saturdays game.

Fister was acquired last season by the Tigers in a trade last season. He went on to be a top of the rotation guy, going 8-1 with a 1.79 ERA after the trade.
