Kinsler is not only the best all-around second baseman in the, but is one of the best all-around players. He has a rare cobination of speed and power at the plate and is a top defensive player.

The contract makes him one of the highest paid second baseman in the league and in the same tier finacially as Dan Uggla and Robinson Cano.

It becomes the second “home grown” player that the Rangers have locked up over the past month, joining SP Derek Holland. Kinsler was “disappointed” they hadn’t finished the deal yet last week, but talks picked up of the weekend. He wanted a contract that would allow him to spend the rest of his career as a Ranger.
